Where do you get all your supplies?
I use mostly vintage and Upcycled materials in an effort to be more earth friendly and ethically sourced. A large portion of my vintage materials were donated from a kind lady when I lost my home in a wildfire in CA 2017. My husband and I both had private mineral collections from our separate travels going back 10+ years, some gems of which we rockhounded ourselves. I collect broken vintage bits and upcycle them into new jewelry. All leather is sustainable deerskin and most is recycled from other people’s scraps. I buy vintage gems pendants chains clasps etc from vintage & thrift shops when I can, and I buy a tiny amount of new crystals from my local crystal shops here in Mount Shasta.
How long have you been making jewelry?
About 15 years ago, I started making jewelry as a teen doing macrame hemp bracelets with friends. Later I carried a suitcase of wire wrapped crystal pendants during my nomadic years of traveling the world by backpack. I grew my knowledge of gems and learned wire wrapping and leather working skills from fellow travelers - now you can kind of see all those influences in my style.
